Walt Disney World Half Marathon Weekend: Day 1

The race that I had planned so diligently for, trained so hard for, was, how should I say this?  The worst.  Yep, that pretty much sums it up.  But!!  There were lots of really fun things that we did in between then.  Walt Disney World is my favorite place in the world.  Tied with my parents house.  Whatever. I love it!

MB landed in Orlando at 10 AM and immediately hit the Magical Express for … wait for … the Grand Floridian!

The excellent service even started as we waited in line for our bus — they gave me a birthday sticker! Not only were we in town to dominate the race but we were rolling through central Florida to celebrate the impending celebration of my birth!

Eric’s birthday was also celebrated via my sticker — yay!

Listen, if you ever get the chance, you really need to stay, even if it’s only for the weekend, at the Grand Floridian. It is beautiful and the service is unparalleled.  Even for Disney — it’s up there.

So we breezily checked into the Grand after I was escorted to the front desk by my new love, Richard.

More on Richard, who is apparently a lot of people’s boyfriend, here.

After all the excitement with Richard, we were shown to our room, facing the lagoon, across from the Polynesian.

We noticed we had a message.  Thankfully it was from some of my favorite characters.  Glee!  After we swirled around the room some more we ate a delicious lunch on the patio and then we were off to the expo!

What’s your favorite resort at Walt Disney World?

I love Richard, and I haven’t even met him yet! I am dying for a WDW vacation. Dying. I also want to do a WDW run, but I’m not sure which. Any advice?? Can’t wait to hear about your half (though I’m sorry it was the WORST–booo).

G — My advice would be the Tower of Terror 10 Miler weekend. Not as sexy as say Princess of Wine and Dine SOUNDS but the field is much smaller, you get to sleep in and 10 miles is a GREAT next distance to work toward. Never mind that I’ll be there {and it’s my favs} Promise that was an honest rather an overly self-serving response. 🙂

Oh my word Richard is so adorable!! I want to go meet him!
I did the Princess half in 2012 but stayed with some friends. It was my FIRST time to Disney EVER! I need to go back soon and experience more of it!
