Marathon Training Weeks 9 & 10

These last two weeks proved that running, if anything is my therapy.  I had two fantastic weeks of running.

Week 9:  33 milesweek7

My 16 mile long run was really rough.  I’m working through my first two longer-term injuries right now {more on that later} plus I was just exhausted.  I’d hosted a Stella and Dot trunk show to benefit Team in Training {and you can still buy awesome jewelry and help me kick cancer!} and maybe had too much champagne.  But my week night runs were awesome and even though it was a tough slog at the end, I finished.

Week 10:  23 miles

Because of the injuries and how tired I felt on the last long run, my coaches recommended I drop down to 4 runs instead of 5.  This worked out great this week with an out of town race AND a little jaunt with my best running friends throughout the week.

To combat my injuries, I’m starting to take cross training more seriously and reworking my schedule so that strength is not just an afterthought.
