At the end of November, Jan came down to help me get some Christmas shopping done. MB was stuck at work so he couldn’t do the 5K that I had excitedly registered us for — the MCRRC Run Under the Lights. Jan has a storied history of participating in 5Ks so she graciously took MB’s place. And man did we have a great time.
It was ridiculously cold that evening but were were totes bundled and ready to go. The run is through Seneca Creek State Park. The park is lit up for people to drive through during the holidays. There are 380 illuminated vignettes and 65 animated displays. Jan and I are both suckers for Christmas lights, so needless to say we were in holiday heaven.
Jan did fantastic at the 5K. Her previous PR was broken by about 20 minutes. I was so proud of her!
The course was beautiful and as usual the volunteers with MCRRC were superb. Parking and pakcet pick up were a breeze, there was plenty of on course support was amazng. There were tons of tasty treats after the race that we didn’t hang around for. We collected our awesome Christmas tree ornaments and headed off for milkshakes.
Hanging out with Jan is my favorite thing. Combining a 5K, with Christmas lights and hanging out with Jan — it was the best night ever.
Have a very Merry Christmas.
