Race Report: PGH Marathon 5K

Game on PGH Official Blogger

Guys.  This race.  Everything.  The weekend.  Everything!  Our people?!  EVERYTHING.

Listen, I’m not going to pretend that I was easy not running the marathon on Sunday.  But, I can say, with certainty that I have a lot of peace with where I am physically and with running.  That certainty allowed me to really really enjoy participating in the 5K.  It also, truly, allowed me to soak up our people while we were in town for the weekend.  Sure we were busy and running from event to event, meet up to meet up.  But, without the pressure of the marathon, and having a peace with this season of my running life, I was thoroughly present.  I could enjoy each person I saw, really see them, enjoy our time together.  It was an amazing time.

First up though, the 5K.

MB and I arrive in Pittsburgh on Friday afternoon and Omni was home base.  I had coordinated with Steff to meet and walk over to the start of the 5K.  She and I both pretended like I’m not 100% directionally challenged and I ended up meeting them right outside of PNC park which was perfect.

it was so dreary and cold.  and wet.  and dreary.

fancy we run social pic from their insta page. Also LNRB, stop going out in the rain without a hat on.  You look ridiculous.

Going from 5K to 10K

Recently I had a darling friend ask for advice about making the jump from the 5K to the 10K.   Since it’s 5 extra Ks in the distances here are my 5 best tidbits of advice for anyone who might be ready to take the next, longer race distance on.

Race Report: Castaway Cay 5K

I’m getting all caught up on my race reports.  I’ll be back soon to explain what in the world I’m doing with my running life soon, proms!

Signging up to go on the Disney Cruise after the marathon weekend was a super good idea.  Apparently I’m not the only person who thinks that because now runDisney offers a challenge, where in if you run during marathon weekend, sign up through rD and then run at Castaway Cay, you get a super special challenge medal.  I knew nothing of this when we booked our trip way way back in August, but whatever.  We still enjoyed our Castaway Cay 5K experience, sans special medals {and 5 AM wake up call thank you very much}

Race Report: Love the Run You’re With 5K

Yesterday, MB and I headed to Arlington, one of our favorite places on the whole planet, for the Love the Run You’re with 5K, a Pacer’s Running joint.  The 5K was supes exciting for a myriad of reasons — it was Megan’s third 5K and we had a PR to beat, Mandy was there and SHE had a PR to beat, Jaime was there and she’s just awesome and we were having brunch at Liberty Tavern afterward which is always motivation for me to do just about anything.

Also of note, I got to wear my tutu from the Wine and Dine Half marathon and we took a bunch of really boss pictures wherein everyone looked pretty adorable.
